UK Subscription Notices

Support ยท last updated 23 September 2026

This app watches the subscriptions in your Stripe account, emails each customer before they renew, gives them a one-click way to cancel, and keeps a dated record of all of it that you can export.

Getting started

  1. Install the app from the Stripe App Marketplace.
  2. Set a sender. Open the app's settings and enter a from address that is verified with your email provider. Nothing is sent until this is set โ€” the app refuses rather than sending from an address that will bounce.
  3. Check the schedule. The default is 14 and 3 days before a renewal. Each number produces its own reminder.
  4. Open any subscription in your Stripe Dashboard to see its renewal date, the notices scheduled for it, and what the email provider reported back about each one.

Common questions

Why does a subscription say a reminder window could not be met?

Because the app saw it too close to its renewal. A subscription first seen nine days before it renews cannot be given fourteen days' notice. The app records the gap rather than hiding it, and it appears in your export โ€” a record that only showed successes would be worth nothing as evidence.

Can a reminder go out twice?

No. Each reminder is unique to one subscription, one renewal date and one offset, enforced by the database, and a notice is claimed before it is sent so two servers cannot both send it.

What happens if a customer changes their plan?

The renewal date moves, so reminders aimed at the old date are withdrawn and new ones scheduled. A customer never receives a reminder quoting a price or date that no longer applies.

Does cancelling happen immediately?

The customer sees a confirmation page with the renewal date and one button. Nothing is cancelled until they press it. That single click is deliberate: a link that cancelled on sight would fire for every email client that pre-fetches links.

What about charitable memberships?

The Act exempts charitable membership schemes providing access to cultural or performance venues. Only you know which of your prices those are, so you list them in settings and the app leaves those subscriptions alone.

Does this make me compliant?

No, and the app never says so. It helps you send the notices and it evidences what was sent. Whether your particular contracts meet the law is a question for you and your advisers.
